Come over to the dark side..... we have cookies :)
That was on some of the tee shirts of the apostababes from the Texas apostafest, made me chuckle.
a couple of nights ago my roomie gave me a dvd to play.
she said it was from her sisters.
well i jump up and put in the dvd thinking it was from her physical sisters (they are all hotties).

it's utterly amazing that the society has bamboozled publishers into thinking that all of its cutbacks.
are somehow not related to a lack of donations.. perhaps this will be tested in the next few years as gasoline, food, and other essentials go way.
up in price while wages stay stagnant.
Yes, it is stupidly expensive living in the UK, which is why so many of us moved to Australia!
Having said that, it isn't so cheap living here any more :(
ok, not his exact words.. lets hope the cbc is a little more 'fair and balanced'.. http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/article313482.ece.
.
so, dragging this back on topic....
The footage of the Katrina crisis was pretty shocking and certainly seemed to paint the local black populous as opportunist looters and the local authorities as inept.
I think it is interesting that Bush is not getting any criticism of the way he handled the California fire thing yet he did not step in until the same stage in the crisis, indicative that the Californian state authorities were much better prepared.

It's interesting that the people that were painting the anti war movement as anti American are now strangely quiet. It should not be a surprise that Blair's government was in the pocket of the media moguls, Blair was the most spin obsessed PM the UK has ever had.
What does concern me is that the government got away with the Iraq debacle; David Kelly was murdered and noone has been brought to justice, hundreds of thousands have died, billions have gone into the coffers of the arms manufacturers and the likes of Haliburton and Blackwater and yet STILL we are likely to get a Labour government in the UK and Bush was not impeached.
Contrast this with the unbelievable witch hunt which took place, at tax payers expense, when Bill Clinton got a blowjob. Right wing Americans should be ashamed of their hypocracy and the British as a whole should be ashamed of their lack of integrity.
i read the two books.. awakening - this was the story of a married witness woman (elder husband) with family in the religion.
she had childbirth/blood rh issues and had to deal with not 'associating' with a disfellowshipped daughter.
throughout the book she wrestles with various issues and suffers mental anguish jumping through hoops because of the religion.
I've got to be honest, I got about 2/3 of the way through C of C and gave up, it is an extremely dull read if you are already sold on the organisation being a sack of crap. For those that are still brainwashed, I think this is an interesting piece of work that will shake their faith in the old men of Brooklyn but I am not sure that anyone still brainwashed would actually read it.
I actually think that reading the experiences of people here on this forum (apart from the hate filled nut jobs) is much more likely to sow seeds of doubt that C of C.
"if you are currently going to college, why don't you currently meditate in prayer on the possibility of dropping out and doing something better?".
"what decisions will you make?
will you refuse or not?
Actually I love it when they do this and come out with the harder line stuff.
Only the stupid stay in, those with any sense do the fade and the harder line stance causes more dissatisfaction and makes their decision easier.
i think i'm at like 5 or something...i think.. just disappearing without saying goodbye counts.. .
so here we go.... .
wlg - 5.
who cares? only drama queens post goodbye threads.
Noone really gives a rat's ass.
... people that picket servicemen's funerals!
"a grieving father won a nearly $11 million verdict wednesday against a fundamentalist kansas church that pickets military funerals in the belief that the war in iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

only in America.....
I was talking to Mrs SLH yesterday about something similar - her fundy christian boss didn't realise the background behind halloween, not the Americanised candy store rubbish but the Celtic Pagan/Druidic significance and the celebration of the beginning of Winter. He nearly blew a gasget and started going on about witches and evil and how he wouldn't let his kids watch Charmed because it was about witches.
That made me think about religionists; if you have god doing your thinking for you, then you don't need to be able to think for yourself.
yes they do and i'm looking forward to it.
i tracked down the guy who started some work on my back and i'm going to finish part of it this weekend.
the tat started as a take on ying and yang and the idea that things come full circle.
I will post photos of my tatts later tonight that I am getting removed, they itch like hell at the moment as the skin is healing from the laser treatment, it actually scabs up just like having a tattoo done in the first place.
My lesson - think very carefully about what you have done and where you have your ink placed.
one of my epiphany moments when growing up as a JW was when one of the sisters in the congregation told me that she wouldn't buy a microwave oven because the society had not published any information about them in the magazines; she wasn't sure that they were either spiritually appropriate or safe.
That really brought home to me (I was about 16 at the time in 1988) that there was some serious brainwashing taking place.
